88 Tempo Spitting Oil Out PCV Hole - Ford Forums

Hi,

I believe this tempo has one foot in the grave already. Why would oil spit out of the PCV hole when the engine is running? Under the hood is just a complete mess of oil and dirt because of this. Also there is a lot of air blown out of the PCV hole - so much that it completely ejects the PCV valve out of the rubber grommet!.

I replaced the grommet, valve, elbow, and tube - Spitting/ejection stopped....Now oil is spitting out of the oil filler cap!

Is this a big issue, or a minor one?

Sounds like blow-by. In other words, the rings are worn out and it needs rebuilt. An alternative might be a junkyard motor, if a low-mileage one can be found. Try TempoTopaz.com :: Tempo Topaz Car Club of North America or TTOA - Tempo & Topaz Owner Association, someone there may have a line on a cheap replacement.
