I have a parking brake issue. You have to pull the parking brake lever more than 10 clicks before it starts to tighten up. If im correct theres a nut that i need to adjust inside the center console, and the star wheel needs to be adjusted until the tires drag. Which way do I turn the nut to put less slack on the cable? Or could it be possible that my parking brake cables are bad?
If that car has rear drums and shoes you should check condition of linings and then adjust manually first . Then check cable adjustment if no seized cables .On most cars turning the nut clockwise at console takes up the excess play .Thats looking at the cable face on . If rear disc brakes , check pads and h/brake linkage at calliper is not seized or sticking .
When you have the drums off to check the brake shoes also check the wheel cyls. are working o.k . Not seized or any leaks and that lever / linkage for parking brake is operating freely .
