I have a 92 Ford Tempo automatic that seems to stall a lot in hot weather but works fine in the winter or colder seasons. Nearly every time when I start the car, and back up (put it into Reverse) then go to D (drive) the car stalls. When I’m driving and I slow down and come to a stop, the car stutters or chokes for a while and if I don’t place it into park, the car will stall. Sometimes I can avoid a stall by pressing on the gas a bit or holding down on the break. Would this be the same problem CLS is having?

Have you had a tune up lately?

You may have a sticking idle speed control motor, a faulty ERG valve, a faulty fuel pump.

I have seen that a lock-up converter in the automatic transmission not unlocking even cause the problem that you are describing.
