92 topaz shutters in low or stopped forward speed.
It just started yesterday. When I come to a stop light, the thing starts shaking like crazy, like its going to stall or as if the timing is off, or something.. No idea whats going on..
What can I check? I thought it was the exaust system as it had a hole in it, so I dumped 300 into a new one, but the proplem still exists.. It does nothing while in nuetral or in reverse, only forward..

Hello and good day:
Have you checked the Basic??...Fuel Filter...Plugs//Wires... Coil Pack or Disberator...???
One rule I live by in car repairs...lol....Start with the Basics, and go from the Cheapest..to..the most expensive...
Re: 92 topaz shutters in low or stopped forward speed.
Well, you could guess until the problem goes away. but I don't think you want to do that -- gets pretty expensive. I've had a SIMILAR problem, it turned out to be bad plug cables. But that still doesn't solve your problem.
So, start with the basics and check to see if there are codes. There are OBDC I code readers available, but the best bet would be to head to your local auto parts chain store (Autozone, Advance, etc.) and ask them to pull codes for you -- write them down. If you don't know what a particular code means, I don't either because I haven't bothered to memorize them. There are resources here and elsewhere for interpreting codes. Try that first, then someone can help you with the next step.

Yep, it is possible that the IAC is to blame, but I've been down that road before with an overly HIGH idle -- which turned out to be a gummed up idle air controller.
But the most general response for anyone encountering a problem like this is to start with analysis rather than guesses .

Re: 92 topaz shutters in low or stopped forward speed.
Precisely. Read the OP and do your analysis. I had the same problem, exact same conditions. The root of those symptoms turned out to be the IAC. My conclusion would be that there is an issue with the IAC. Chances are real good that the root of the OPs problem is the IAC. No guesswork involved, just a helpful suggestion that is very likely a little less vague than "Start with the Basics, and go from the Cheapest..to..the most expensive".
Re: 92 topaz shutters in low or stopped forward speed.
Since the OP hasn't come back, you don't really know what his problem actually was, do you. Extremely low idle CAN be caused by a variety of things, including leaky plug wires. Analysis starts with facts and examination, and some of us were giving the OP some things to look for and examine.
