93 topaz trans problem!!
i have a 93 topaz i just got about a month ago, the brakes and front end are shot, but thats not my problem. a little history, i bought the car for $500 and its got 98k on it, it sat for a while, im working on doing the brakes. it had a coolant leak when i got it, leaking out of the line from the thermostat housing to the heater core. i still drove it, shifted perfect, no problem at all, fluid at correct level and everything.
now, to today, i just put a new hose on from the core to the thermostat, replaced the thermostat because it was completely gone. put it all back together, bolted everything back up, put coolant in it and went for a test drive, went fine for the first couple miles, but now whenever you hit the gas, from a dead stop, it goes and the engine goes up to about 4k rpm before the trans will go into 2nd, same problem from 2nd to 3rd. and when your coming off the highway, the shift from 3rd to 2nd is hard. this never happened until i fixed the coolant leak/radiator hose. what did i do wrong????
