94 Tempo Surging/stalling When Cold

I have a 94 Tempo, 2.3, automatic. The car has a couple of problems:
1. sometimes when you first start it up it will and then die. But starts right back up.
2. After you start it and then put it in gear it surges/sputters sometimes it will take a few seconds for it to catch up with its self.
What I have been doing is letting it warm up for 5 or 10 minutes and it runs fine.

I have replaced the spark plugs, cap. rotor, Map sensor, fuel filter, and fuel pump in the tank (it needed that).

Any ideas what is wrong?

Brian

Re: 94 Tempo Surging/stalling When Cold

bro are u trying to take off right away on a cold start?
i got a aftermarket oil psi gauge on mine i can tell u at between 20-30 degree weather it takes that oil about a goood 5 secs to get to 45-50 psi then the air to fuel aint even right for another 2 minuts, after that it can still take up to 5 whole minuts to warm up the head to 100-120F almost 8 for 160F
and the tranny fluid to bro its gota warm up as well.

My car was doing the same thing. Ford Techs found faulty PCV valve causing computer to be confused concerning vacuum sensing. Try that inexpensive part and see if it fixes your problem
