Cooling Fan sensor problems '91 Tempo
Seems my cooling fan will not come on until the temp gauge is halfway to redline, and then it shuts off immediately below the halfway mark. This is not good and I don't like running the engine this hot.
I've replace both sensors in the thermostat housing with no luck. If I disconnect the plug from the sensor and cross the connectors on the plug, then the fan works. (But it stays on all the time whenever the ignition is on)
With that said, the plug and the circuit to the fan seems to be fine. But why doesn't the fan work properly when the plug is connected to the sensor?
I've checked the coolant flow, backflushed the whole system and everything seems to be in order. I just spent 30 bucks on this new sensor from the dealer with no results. Could the 'new' sensor be bad?
I'm stumped - any ideas??
Thanks
