They do have alot of dumb rednecks here in the South. Up until a few years ago, you could literally drink and drive in Louisiana and it was totally legal unless you couldn't control your vehicle. Now its been changed.

Not flaming your post with this, will just mention.....

I know rednecks don't have much of a reputation, but I'm gonna stand up for them for a minute. Rednecks really aren't like everyone sees them as being stereotyped, like in Redneck Rampage, etc. I'll start off by saying that I have a couple of real good friends that people would call "rednecks" or "backwoods people". One of these "rednecks" is my best friend Adam. Redneck and all, I'll tell you he's the first one to stick up with me and he helps me through anything. I've known him since my freshman year in high school and he has never slacked in being a great friend. I'll also say this, not all rednecks do illegal things. Adam doesn't drink and drive, etc. I believe that SOME "rednecks" do illegal things, just like some "high class" lawyers, some college students, etc. It happens in all circles, but not everyone does it.

On a side note, Adam is a hardcore Chevy guy, but he quickly respected my enthusiasm with Fords, Tempo/Topaz no less. He respects all of us here at TTHP for our work and checks up on this site pretty often. He's amazed by our progress and loves Olympics SHO swap. For years Adam and I have been planning to take a 1984-1987 2dr Tempo body, strip her down and build her up as a street legal RWD V8 351 toting muscle car. After I get stationed in North Carolina (closer to home), we can get started on our muscle car. Adam, dude, if you read this post I want to thank you again for helping me out in everyway you can. You're a true friend. Take it easy man.

Easy now! I live in Mississippi. I moved here from Missouri.

Actually, I am originaly from Kansas and Graduated from The University of Kansas (KU Not K+State). Hence my moniker....Jayhawk.

That email is just a joke, and I'm not saying anyone is dogging rednecks, I just wanted to speak my mind on the subject cuz a lot of people stereotype......you guys know what I mean! :D

I did not take offense. The thing that makes jokes like that so funny is that there is a small grain of truth. Stereotypes obviously do not reflect each individual of a given region or ethnic population.

I have some african american friends who have at times shared some of their "white jokes" with me. And I have to say that there is a grain of truth in them that is taken to an illogical extreme and is funny.

When the jokes turn Cruel and are taken as truth to exclude someone. Then it becomes out of bounds.

I having grown up in Kansas, I can understand how the jokes are funny. But not all of Kansas is flat and we are not all corn fed wheat growing country bumpkins.

I am not one of those "diversity clones" but I would hate to live in a country our world where every one thinks the same. Our richest musical heritage jazz and Blues comes from aspects of African culture brought over with the slaves. The blues grew out of slaves work songs. Blue grass came from appalachian mountains which likely dates back to eropean roots.

The neat thing about this country is that we are not all the same. The Idea of a melting pot or soup is good, but I much preferr a salad. In a salad you can still see the ingredients that make it so good.

I wasnt meaning to dog anybody out and hope I didnt since my some measures I am a redneck too, one from Europe but still.

My poor Tempo was almost totalled a few days ago when I was going to my company's party. I saw all the cars and started slowing down and just as I get to the driveway I hear a screeeeeeeeccccchhhhhhing sound behind me and look in my rearview and see my trunk and an f 150 headlight right above it. he didnt hit me but got very, very close. He also had a boat with him and the extra weight plus his late braking left a 30 foot skid mark. Its a good thing I was going into the other lane, otherwise I'd probably not be typing this right now. It scared me ****less and half of the people at the party came to see what happened. Oh well, I could have made some money though.
