Ford Tempo 93 Stereo System

Hi all,

I will change soon my stereo, cassette, am/fm stereo with a cd, usb, aux in stereo soon. The new kenwood stereo provide 22 watt per channel. I personally think that my actual stock speaker perform pretty good with my stock stereo. Does someone knows the specification of the stock ford premium speakers on the ford tempo 93 gl, 2.3 liter, 4 cyl engine ?

I've checked the rear speaker to see if there is some info on it and i found a sticker but no usable info...

It says

220 1333

e93f18b980-aa

E9DF-18971-AA

Premium Speakers

And i see the Ford label on the sticker also, so i really think that it's the stock speakers.

I want to know if it worth spending extra cash on new speakers onced my new stereo installed.

Thank you,

Danny

Re: Ford Tempo 93 Stereo System

For sure replacing the stock speakers with aftermarket ones would be way better sound, I believe youre front door speakers are 5.25 inch, The Rear deck speakers are 6X9's.

Re: Ford Tempo 93 Stereo System

4 x 22 watts is not overwhelming power. The stock premium speakers are fair but not great, but they should be able to handle the output. Good speakers (i.e., Infinity, JBL, etc.) will make almost any car radio sound better, so if you have the cash, replacement speakers will most certainly help.

Just a hint, if you really have the Tempo premium sound system, there is a small amp under the back shelf. Also, consider using better speaker wire than what is currently in your car. I have heard on another Tempo forum, but don't know for sure, that there is supposed to be an "extra" radio connector tucked in the dash -- if you have the Tempo premium sound system. This extra connector may make it easier to connect an aftermarket stereo.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here.
