New Member, Here For Help And Info
You guessed it, bought a '93 Tempo with a V6 and 87k on it. Nice car, but you guessed it, it quits!!! Have spent hours going through the threads on this site. Have compiled a list of things to check and go through. I have one thing to add, I worked on AMC's back in the early '70's. We had a problem with them quiting also. Just going down the road they would quit, right out of the show room they would quit. Never knew when or where, we finally figured it out, they ran the small ignition control wiring in the same loom or harness as the larger high amperage wires from the alternator or wires that fed high amp curcuits. The powerful electricial field around the high amp wires would interfer with the very low miliamp signals in the ignition control curcuits. Once we got the control wires away from the high amperage wires the problems disapeared. To all who have put info in these posts I thank you, I have worked on cars, trucks, boats and airplanes all my life and found one thing to be true, if it's got nuts and bolts holding it together it's going to have it's quirks and special problems, just never heard of the Tempo problem 'cause this is the first one I've owned. Will keep you all posted on my progress or lack of it on my new challenge, The Ford Tempo!!! Again thanx, Dave G
