Hey there,

I may have a possible leak in the valve cover over the passenger side.
Is it hard to take the valve cover off and replace the gasket that seals
it from leaking ? I know you have to clean it (What does this entail?).
I have also seen that BLUE PERMATEX stuff that is used. Do I use this
stuff as well with the new gasket ? :hrm:

just take it off and clean the surfaces where that gasket will be applied, be sure not to mark them or it will not seal.. then replace the gasket and torque to specs. also use a proper gasket do not use the gasket gew stuff, its not that great and can leak easly, i also hear some stuff about the fumes of the gaskey gew will linger in the valve cover because it never dries all the way, causing some problems.

Depends on the year. The late 91's and up had a plastic valve cover with what appears to be an intergrated valve cover gasket. My 91 GS had that.

I fixxed the problem by going to the junk yard and getting a "performance" valve cover off of a "sport" model tempo. I had to get the bolts because the later models had a plastic plug on the bolt.
