SHORT SHIFT for Manual

Im just interested to find out if anyone has... an knows where i can get... or knows where i could get a Short Shift/Throw kit for my 88 Manual....

I have been told that there is one for the Taurus SHO... and that some of those used the same MTX as the Tempo... so.. any help from anyone would be lovely.. and appreciated....

Re: SHORT SHIFT for Manual

Drive it off a cliff, collect the insurance and buy an SHO.

Or you could just swap in an SHO motor and transmission. Saves you a lot of aggravation looking for aftermarket support that really just isn't there.

Re: SHORT SHIFT for Manual

I don't know that stuffing a SHO motor/tranny will save aggravation in the long run. It's been done before:

mainpage

And pretty successfully, just needed a fair amount of fabrication.

Now, as for a short-shift for the Tempo, they don't exist (AFAIK), but there have been some folks who have been able to use an Escort shifter (pre-'91, I think). Look around on Tempo - Topaz Owner Association or TempoTopaz.com :: Tempo Topaz Car Club of North America for some more ideas.
