Have you ever bent the needle?
One time, I was following my roommate in his Neon. My car is like yours, 2.3 auto 85mph speedometer. We were haullin a$$ down the freeway, and my speedometer went down to the black plastic trim around the gauges, and started to bend a little when the car ran out of steam. According to the speedo in the Neon, we were hitting close to 105.
