Hi all,

I mis diagnose a problem with my car. I thought my fuel pump was shot but it was my inertia switch. Anyways, i have a brand new fuel pump now. I would like to keep my old, still functional fuel pump. I would like to store it for later in case i need it.

Is there some precaution i must use in order to store it correctly ?

There is fuel inside of the pump right now, is better to remove it and put oil or some other fluid, dry it with air ?

Never been asked or thought about that before . I usually just toss them in garage , sheds , thinking that will be handy to keep and end up never using them . I've got some parts that I put away 25 years ago !!! and now need tossing .Dont think oil would be a good idea and would probably find any fuel in pump will evaporate over time .On older pumps , used to get problems with diaphrams when left for a long while .Really dont have an answer but doubt if you will need it again , but who knows .

If you replaced your pump with an after market pump you will probably need the old one
again in about a year. Just clean it and dry it and put it back in the old box.

Maybe Marvel Mystery Oil would be beneficial in preserving it for future use???

i have used pumps in past that i put in garage sitting for over a year... i just hooked up power from battery to make sure it worked and installed... never had an issue
