Matt Kenseth has taken the Winston Cup for 2003 by a narrow margin after his engine failed on lap 28 at Homestead this last weekend. Kenseth had already sealed the championship last week after a strong 4th place gave him an unassailable lead.

The result means Jack Roush wins his first championship as team owner after coming close twice with Mark Martin.

Great to see the No 17 Ford get to the top.

This was also the final year of Winston sponsoring the series after something like 30 or 35 years. Amazing. They deserve credit for sticking with it so long.
