A third BA GT is to race at Winton, see the story from http://www.procar.com.au/newsitem.asp?news_id=1424

PHILIP READY TO DEBUT FALCON GT AT WINTON

9/6/2004:
EXPERIENCED Ford driver James Philip returns to the regular ranks of the Australian GT Performance Championship with a new Ford Falcon GT for round four at Winton on 18-20 June.

Philip’s will be one of three BA series Ford GTs at Winton and the Melbourne-based driver hopes the blue oval boys will be at last able to provide substantial opposition to the Holden V8s, BMWs, Nissans and Japanese turbo cars in Australia’s most exciting touring car series.

Philip is due to test his new car at Calder Park circuit on Wednesday 16 June, before travelling up to Winton or the first official practice sessions on Friday.

The GT has been built with assistance from sponsors Parts Plus, Dana and Castrol, plus a dedicated crew.

Philip has been out of regular GTP competition for a couple of years, but has plenty of experience.

He won the Class C championship in a Falcon XR8 in 2000 and came second in the 2001 Bathurst 2-Hour Showroom Showdown.

In 2002, he won the GT Production class in the Sandown 500 and ninth outright in a Falcon TE50 at the inaugural Bathurst 24Hour.

In 2003, he contested the Bathurst 24-Hour in the BA GT model’s mountaiin debut.

Also Team GT were concerned after the Sandown round about fixing the panel damage to the TE50 so it could be raced again (leased?), however I don't think this is an immediate prospect.

Well at least he'll get a sure supply of diffs!

Nice to see another GT on the track - perhaps if we are really, really, really, lucky; one of them might just get to be as quick as the old TeamGT TE50.

I'd be happy with being faster than the HSVs! But ok, why not let's go for faster than the TE as well lol. Seriously though, on his website it says the minimum weight for the car is 1660kg including driver so there is scope for improvement so long as the weight can be taken out of the front end. Apparently aluminium bonnets are ok, but I don't think CF is though.
