The super sales slogan, "But wait, there's more!", will be added to the Ford pitch for the "Barra" Falcon in September.
The value-added approach will be part of the unveiling of the fresher and feistier AV Falcon.
The basics of the car will be fairly special, and there will be plenty of Tickford action to follow the main event in September, but Ford is also planning something extra.
It intends to reveal its 'Barra' racer at the same time as the rest of the updated and upgraded Falcons.
The new Falcon will be raced against Holden's facelifted Commodore from the start of next season, but the Blue-Oval brand wants to get in first by unveiling its racer well before the start of competition.
It has already finalised the basic design racer - which was done by the engineering team at Campbellfield - and it's about to be circulated to its race shops so work can begin.
The first batch of Barra racing bodies are also about to be sent to Queensland to have their rollcages, which are the key to strength and speed, fitted.
If everything goes to plan the first completed Falcon will be finished in time for the press preview in September.
Watch out Holden, the :bowd:'Barra' is coming to get you !
As long as the officials don't screw it up with by giving Holden more of an advantage, front double wishbone suspention, better aero package etc, :noNO:
It will be interesting to see what rule changes or structure changes accompany this!!! ie. are they going to run live-axle, or IRS? Are they gonna run Windsors still (most likely IMO) ?
I can remember the AU racecar that was at one of the motor shows (silver and black). It had an awesome aerokit and had been tested in the wind tunnel in the US. Its a pity we don't have that aerokit now.

Ummmm, how can it be the officials fault??? Nothing is allowed into a racecar that does not fit within the rules, so holden isn't gaining any unfair advantage anywhere. Ford have the same set of rules to work with.

Also 'vpv8calias' (spit), all testing for new technology, tyres, you name it, is tested on HRT commodores. HRT, being the team with a budget of four times the nearest team.
Which brings me to my next point. Do you think that they should impose a team spending cap in the V8 series?

Ford will still run the Double wishbone IRS as they do now although the suspension point will be altered to be more like the commodore witch will allow for easier set up (or so they say).
As for the engine this will not change anytime in the near future.
The rules state that the engine must be a 5ltr, single cam, push rod, V8.

At the rear V8Supercars run a live axle (with camber adjustment) with a 4-link and watts-link for location. Next year the location of the 4-links will be altered which will assist the Falcon get the power down (changed to Commodores current setup).
At the front at present Fords have double arms and Commodores are struts. Next year both will run identical double arms.
I can see what John Bowe has said for years being a good option, and that is getting rid of the road car based chassis and going for a Nascar style common tubular chassis.
Much cheaper to build and after all what 100% of the race car now represents the road car anyway?

The only thing I can think of is that I was thinking about the Front Independent wishbone suspension that they use in the falcon road and race cars, that being the same suspension that the commodores will use in next years series.
remember back to the EF/EL supercar days , why were they racing GLi V8's instead of Xr8's like they do with the AU supercars??? Will the BA V8 supercar be a V8 forte or will they be XR8's? I was watching a bathurst replay the otherday and the EF/EL supercars looked odd being GLi's and not XR8's , i think the EB's were the same aswell....

Ford tried to homologate the XR front end for the EF/EL V8 Supercar but were not allowed and they ran with the GLi/Futura front ends, they succeeded to homologate the XR front end for the AU, however I don't know whather they will use base model or XR front end for BA supercar, time will tell, although there won't be such a big difference between them anymore anyway

The comments i made have nothing to do with me being a holden supporter.
Like i said, both sides of the fence are working within the same rules.
One further comment just for you ford.boy, do not jump to conclusions just because of my name, and dont be so god damn rude!
Where are the mods when i need them? :BW:
