Burti signs as tester for Ferrari 17 Nov 2001
On Friday Ferrari announced that Luciano Burti would join Luca Badoer as Ferrari's second test driver. The Brazilian had an eventful 2001 season when he drove for Jaguar for the first four races and then switched to Prost. The French team which is rumoured to be in financial difficulties has yet to announce its driver line up for 2002.
Burti had two serious accidents while driving for Prost. The first was a start incident when Michael Schumacher slowed and Burti's Prost took off over the back of the Ferrari and somersaulted through the air. The second crash in early September at Spa resulted in serious concussion and caused the Brazilian to miss the last three races of the season.
Luciano Burti has not yet commented on the appointment.
