Calder Park Thunderdome

Do you reckon that they will ever get another series of AUSCAR and NASCAR running at the thunderdome again. It seems such a waste of a fantastic venue.
We should all get in touch with NASCAR in America and get them to come down during our summer, when there doing no racing because it's winter over there then, and get them to have a 300 mile or 500 mile race at the thunderdome.
What do you guys reckon.

I had no idea that the facility was not being used, that's a real shame.
Perhaps they can incorporate sections of it into some of the regular Calder Park events, like they did with the Group A cars several years ago?
Not sure too many of the Good Ol' Boys know to much of the world exists outside of the Southern Us States!!:s6:

i think that the victorian play with nascar is gone.....ecept for next year when the av and the commodore are basically the same car except for the body.

I've always loved the drags...a nitro burner is something else......but they dont race here anymore either.....well not until the adrenanlin race complex is finished.

Yeah , old Bob 's done a job on Calder...its stuffed now. Bloody shame too. How long can a huge complex like Calder keep the gates open only running street meets , driver training days etc...?? :crazy1: :crazy1:

At least Heathcote Park is still running street meets - with prize money!!:s2: :s6:

NASCAR USA probably wouldn't have time to come down here and do a few exhibition races as they race from February to November and the rest of the year they are getting ready for the next season. The poor fella's only get 3 weekends off a year.
Anyone see the Winston last weekend. Fantastic drive by Ryan Newman.

Would be interesting to see Nascar drivers racing our cars and vice versa. It will never happen though

I think the chances of getting the americans out to race at Calder are pretty much non-existent. The idea is great in principle, and I for one would love to see them in action, but with the current state of the track you'd be looking at millions of dollars to bring it up to their standard.

Remember what happened last year with CART and that track whose name completely escapes me right now. The one where they had to pull the pin cos the drivers were pulling to many g's. Dont quite think Calder would have that problem though :MUha: Calder just wouldn't be suited to the extra horsies and speed that the american rivals are pullin.
