CAT Press release
IT’S OFFICIAL – CAT RACING,
FORD & LOWNDES TEAM UP.
Cat Racing has officially announced its decision to stay
with Ford for the 2003 Season. The new CAT-badged
BA-model V8 Race Car will be fielded by the Ford
Performance Race Team with Craig Lowndes behind the
wheel.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the deal and have every confidence
that we will seeing a lot more of the CAT brand right up there in the
front of the grid”, said Mike Leyden of Caterpillar Australia.
“At the end of a pretty ordinary season in 2002, we looked at every
option before committing to this year.
“We felt that our long-term links with Ford made it natural to stay
with the Blue Oval. Then when Ford offered Craig Lowndes as the
driver of the CAT Car, we were sure that we had the right
combination and the right team”, he said.
The new CAT Ford will be unveiled at the Melbourne Motor Show
in a few weeks. Its colour scheme, like the car and driver, is totally
different.
“We certainly wanted a design that would suit the car but knew that
it had to be completely different to the old AU Ford”, Mike said.
“The design we agreed upon retains the strong CAT branding but
allows the car’s own lines to shine through. It’s a strong design and
it’s going to look brilliant when it’s out in front”.
Mike Leyden is confident that all CAT staff and customers will be
truly supportive of the new look as well as the new team. He
looks forward to introducing Craig Lowndes to customers and staff
at events throughout the year.
“We’re back into V8 Racing with a vengeance", Mike said.
"This time, we’ve got the car, the driver and the team that’s going to
put us up there on the podium”.
