Reigning Australian V8 Supercar champion Marcos Ambrose has signed a publishing deal with Geoff Slattery Publishing, which will see his book released in November this year.
Marcos Ambrose: The Devil Racer will offer an exciting insight into the private life of the normally reclusive Australian motorsport star, and a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at life on the Australian V8 Supercar circuit.
Co-written with GSP senior sports journalist Sean Callander, the book will open with Marcos' story and achievements on the track - including his early years growing up in a motorsport family in Tasmania, first racing experiences, and later, his battles in Europe with some of the world's best drivers. Marcos' efforts this year to defend his Australian V8 Supercar Championship title of 2003 will also be covered in detail.
In the second half of the book, Marcos will take readers behind the scenes of the V8 Supercar Championship circuit to meet the people of Stone Brothers Racing team and find out exactly what it takes to succeed at the pinnacle of Australian motorsport. Many of the sport's biggest names will share their memories of Marcos' rise through the ranks, and their thoughts on what has made him the hottest talent in domestic motorsport today.
Marcos Ambrose: The Devil Racer also promises to break new ground in the areas of design and motorsport imagery. The 208-page book will incorporate bold design elements, vivid colour and an amazing range of images sourced from Marcos' private family collection, elite V8 photographer Mark Horsburgh and Sutton Motorsport images in the United Kingdom.
Geoff Slattery, managing director of GSP said: “We are thrilled that Marcos has agreed to tell his story so frankly. This will be an inspiring Australian story of determination, dedication and sheer hard work, and it is our intention to produce a book that truly reflects the passion, colour and excitement of the sport in every way.”
To be officially launched at this year's V8 Supercar meet on the Gold Coast, October 21 - 24, Marcos Ambrose: The Devil Racer will be available in stores across the country on November 1.
Sounds like a rushed and trashy effort to cash in on Marcus' popularity while he's still Champion.
Bet it joins Dick 2nd biography in the $9.99 mark-down bins shortly after the Christmas shopping season it's designed to cash in on...

I was reading some Ford magazine with an article on Ambrose in it, sounds like he is busy enough as it is without also writing a book. I'd bet his co-writer is doing a fair haul of the work, no doubt, but good on them and all the best with it!
