Dick Johnson’s Shell Helix Racing Team has announced its 2004 endurance drivers with David Brabham returning to the team for 2004. He drove with Max Wilson last year, but will be paired with Fujitsu Racing’s Owen Kelly. David is looking forward to his return to the V8 Supercar category.
"Dick runs a great team, the cars are coming on strong for pace, so I am looking forward to using my experience from last year to good effect. From what I've seen Owen (Kelly) is a rising talent and he has already chalked up plenty of Supercar miles this season, so I think we'll be a strong combination."
Kelly (no relation to the Kelly brothers of HRT and Kmart Racing) is a regular pilot for the DJR Fujitsu Racing team in the Konica-Minolta Series. He has already had one round win this season (Clipsal 500) and will be making his fifth Bathurst 1000 start!
"I'm extremely excited to be driving with David Brabham in the Shell Helix Racing Ford, David is one of Australia's great driving exports and I respect everything that he has done and achieved in his career,” said Kelly.
"I'm expecting to learn a lot from David; together we'll be having a red hot go. I am really looking forward to both events."
Regular Shell Helix Racing drivers, Steven Johnson and Warren Luff, will be paired in the number seventeen DJR Falcon. The Sandown 500 and the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 will be raced in rounds nine and ten.
