Drag Racing

How many people here have raced their car in the 1/4 mile or the 1/8th mile drags? What were your best times? What mods did you have?

I haven't raced mine yet, but it is all stock and I estimate around low 15's in the quarter. Interested to hear what times you got with what mods, etc.

G'day Jimbo.

Well, I'll soon be able to give you a fairly close figure. Sometime this coming week I'll be strapping up to a G-Tech for some stats, so I'll be sure to post the results. It'll be interesting to see the times with the exhaust mods I've done!! The G-Tech results aren't perfect, but I think they're a reasonable measurement of performance.

Cheers
Mike

Come out to the 'Creek on Wednesday and find out for yourself.

I tried some 1/8th mile runs at Dubbo last year, but could not get traction and so the best I was able to do was a 10.72.

I'm hoping to improve on that at the Creek this week.

Would love to come on Wed night but unfortunately I have to work until 10PM :-(

10.7 in the 1/8th is ~ 16.7 in the 1/4, I'm sure you'll be faster than that. Traction must have been bad at Dubbo :-(

Good luck Simon, let us know how it goes.

Ah ha! :-) Damn, I knew I'd forgotten to make one appointment this week!!!!!!! *slaps self for good measure*

*slaps self again* There, that's for making claims you aren't following up man!

*slaps self again* Dammit, stop slapping!

No worries Mark, looks like it will have to be early next week, as the olds are coming for a few days. I'm guessing you'll be coming along for the testing? :) I'll be glad to show you everything (erm.. to do with the car that is).

Cheers
Mike

Mike,

No, really, I want to see it all hahahah j/k. We can strap the Gtech to your forehead and see how fast you can run naked down the quarter!

I will be there with bells (and clothes) on, because the EB GLi with squeeky shot suspension just doesn't do it for me like it used to back in the 70s when I bought it.

I heard you nailed a GTS300 to 80km/h? haha way to go! Gotta love the bottom end grunt of a Ford V8. 0-speedlimit is where I race anyway. How's the V8 ute test in the current motor mag...

- 185kw AU2 XR8 ute with live axle and leaf sprung rear end, 0-30km/h: 0.59s....
- 225kw VX SS ute with IRS, 0-30km/h: 1.46s

haha gotta love 'usable' power! It's figures like that which help me sleep at night.

Cheers,
Mark
