It will even be harder next year for the Ford teams with the introduction of the AV. I wonder if some of the major teams will stick with the AU. Most of the undercar will be the same with all three manufactorse, Ford, Holden and TWR all updating to the new model but the AV's shape will be substancially different to the AU where as the VX adn VY will be fairly much the same but with seperate lights.

OK I might be about to be a dum girl AGAIN but wouldn't a different shape mean a need for all new data, prehaps creating an interesting settling in period?

Probably right, definately if they are heavier than the AU.

I dont think it will really make that much of a difference, i figure the the only things similar to the production cars is the shell outline

Holdens get front double wishbone suspension (unlike their roadcars) in 2003, making life even tougher for Ford teams next year.

What's the so called problem with getting the weight down in the AV supercar then? If only the shell (and badging) is different, why is it heavier than the AU supercar?

Floorplan changes mate. Apparantly Barra will be 40kg heavier than AU in the stripped shell weight alone..
