I was informed by a very reliable source yesterday that Steve Ellery has been suspended from racing at Phillip Island because his wheel fell off at Adelaide.

I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere, was wondering if anyone else can.

BTW I work for one of Steve Ellerys Sponsors (Not the One you Think) and my source was from a senior manager, who happens to be very involved with a junior V8 catagory - put 2 and 2 together and you'll work it out.

So his info is normally good, but this one sounds way to far fetched.

But if anyone can shed light on it please do so.

That is the biggest load of crap I have heard all day. WHY would they suspend him?

my b!oodly oath he was wrong. it was a racing "mishap" nothing you can do about it.

Ellery was actually excluded from the Race 2 results at the Clipsil 500...Something I have never seen happy before.

I just grilled my contact again, and he is adamant that at the driver's dinner on Sunday night, Steve Ellery's father/manager was really pissed off and told him that was because of the suspension for Phillip Island, due to a wheel nut coming off in the main straight.

The only thing is, between Sunday and now he may have successfully appealed the decision, because when you look at the footage the rim was cut in half, which probably happened because of a rock or the like getting caught on top of the caliper and grinding it's way through. This would certainly cause the wheel nut to come loose and fly off.

But apparantly the officials are going to be really hard on loose wheels/nuts this year and it's quite obvious that are willing to dish out race suspensions.

Please remember guys, that I am just letting you know what I've heard, don't flame the messenger.

i say there is parity with the cars but no parity with the rules if ellery did get suspened for a wheel falling off i would feel like punching out the tony avesco guy because holden did not get anything for cheating with the whole TWR/HRO deal.

Ellery got suspended from Adelaide for his wheel nut coming off. Theres no way he'll miss the next round because of it. Thats like someone being made to do a drive through for the next 5 race's because of 'x' incident.
