Howard Announces Election on 9/10 - Bathurst Weekend

Looks like Australia's biggest motor race will have to have polling places as well as food and drink stalls behind the stands.

Can you imagine a polling place on the top of the Mountain?

I wonder how many pissed Holden and Ford fans would end up writing either P.Brock or M. Ambrose on their forms!

Or who ever wins the top 10 shoot out might have a late surge before the polling booths close!!
I think most people planning to camp up there will vote absentee before the weekend.

Great I have to vote on my Bloody B'day, oh well I've been told that my prezie for my birthday is that Glenn Seton and Craig Lowndes will win the mountain.

Why don't you guys do an absentee vote. Just front up to your local Electoral Commission Office and lodge your vote. Just tell them your going to be out of the country.

Some of them would be too pissed to realise it's a polling booth and not a urinal

Sacrilege! Having a federal election on the holiest day of Australian motor sport!

Re: Howard Announces Election on 9/10 - Bathurst Weekend

Yet one other weekend was scratched due to conflicting with the NRL
grand final. Now, I'm a footy fan **ducks flying objects** but I'm pretty
sure more people are on the move for Bathurst weekend than the NRL grand final.
They can fit what? 80 000 people in the stadium for the footy. Else you watch it at
home.....that NIGHT. Bathurst however is on during the day, all day mind you, and will
over the weekend draw hundreds of thousands out onto the roads out of their
electorate. Add that you would miss some of the race if you worked on Saturday and
were forced to go on Sunday.

Re: Howard Announces Election on 9/10 - Bathurst Weekend

Son & I will be doing a pre-poll before we go.I for one do not want to queue for AGES with about 50,000 + people,it's bad enough doing the voting thing at my local school.
Can you imagine the polling booths at the top of the mountain?
Vote 1 Marcos Ambrose.
Vote 2 Russell Ingall
Vote 56 Mark Skaife.
{fill in whoever else you want in between}.
