Re: Last Years Points Structure?
I haven't worked out this year with last year's scoring. With double points that was also a stupid system. Here's what the points would have been before Pukekohe using the FIA system though (F1/WRC):
Ambrose: positions(11,17,1,1,1,1,2,1,5,6,4) 0+0+10+10+10+10+8+10+4+3+5 = 70
Skaife: positions(1,6,19,6,8,2,27,3,1,8,3) 10+3+0+3+1+8+0+6+10+1+6=48
Murphy: positions(9,3,5,14,2,4,8,11,3,1,2) 0+6+4+0+8+5+1+0+6+10+8 = 48
Ingall: positions(8,10,3,4,13,18,1,8,5,6,1) +0+6+5+0+0+10+1+4+3+10=40
I.e., he wouldn't even need to turn up to the last two rounds.
Here's last year with this year's points (unadjusted). I think we can all agree it was a year where Skaife completely and utterly dominated:
Ambrose: 1887
Skaife: 1858
Murphy: 1822
I.e., Skaife was pretty much hanging onto the championship by the skin of his teeth and relying on removal of worst rounds to win.
It will be so unfair if Ambrose loses because of this moronic points system. It should be patently obvious to anyone with a brain that he deserves the championship more than anyone else.
