It is probably a good move by GMS to do this in my opinion, this means that they have time to test and develop the car rather than take it to QLD and dump it on the track without having really turned a wheel in anger. The stone brothers chassis would have been built in QLD and developed at QLD raceway, so the chassis should be reasonably well sorted out for the QLD race already :D
