There is an interesting article in the latest edition of Australian Muscle Cars about the chance of a Magna V8 Supercar. They have photos of a Magna V8 in Future Tourer trim using a Holden 5.0L V8.
The article states that turning a Magna into a 600HP rwd V8 Supercar running a Dodge NASCAR block and cylinder heads in achievable.
There has been a lot of debate on these forums about having Toyota and/or Mitsubishi into the V8 Supercar series but I for one say BRING THEM ON, lets have a little more competition.

Agree, i'm all for bringing in Mitsu and Toyota. Who care's if they don't produce rear wheel drive V8 sedans. Its not as if the Holden and Ford V8 Supercars share any mechanicals with their production versions.
Bring it on, but i'd be worried that Ford would be left even further behind!!!
I disagree folks the Ford vs Holden battle is part of the Australian culture, allowing other makes to compete would ruin what is a great touring car series.
Just my opinion.

Are there people out there that are passinoate about these brands that would support them?
This is why i guess the manufacturers want in on the sport, to get passion into the brand. You have to start somewhere.
And do you really think Holden and Ford are any more Australian than Toyota and Mitsubishi?? Maybe at this stage, Ford AUS is the most Australian of the lot, but i think its on its last legs. Globalisation of product will eventually sap whats left of the Australian in the Falcon.
Originally posted by Stealth00 Just out of intrest does anybody know how long Toyota and Mitsubishi have been in Australia compared to Ford and Holden?
Dont know, but i can tell you that Ford and Holden have been here allot longer than Toyota/Mitsu, but should that prevent them from being able to race in the series?
The Magna is just as Australian as Falcon and Commodore. It is designed and built here, from parts made here. The Avalon is more American in design but it is made here as well.
JEM, I agree with you 100%. You have to build a supporter base and get street cred somehow, and what better way in Australia than to get it racing at Bathurst.
