the melbourne gp wrap up according to me
well, imho, this was one of the best f1 races in a long time. no doubt the weather played a part in that, however, a lot of credit has go to go to the rules makers for the introduction of the new qualifying formats.
i liked the one hot lap qualifying. whilst it may not be the best for those at the race, those folk benefit from a more interesting race on race day. from a home spectator point of view, this means that potentially the field can be scrambled up a bit. one mistake and it could cost 10 or more positions.
i wasnt sure about the rule making a car start the race with the same fuel as the previous day, but i think it contributed overall to an excellent day. once again, do you as a team sacrifice a few places on the start grid to allow a few more laps before pitting? a lot of noise was made about schuey being on pole, but those people were wrong. as my mum says, empty vessels make the most noise. simple, schuey was on a completely different strategy and opted for grid position over additional laps (which the weather blew apart anyway....good old melbourne :s2: ).
in all, a great race. thoroughly enjoyed. pity channel 10 didnt show the v8's though (not in perth anyway).
