Re: merph takes the shine off bathurt for us ford fans
i like anyone watching today was Amazed, astonished and gobsmacked by murphy's time. i was actually for the first time happy that a holden did well.
when you think about it though. in recent times who has set the fast times on saturday and or been very fast on sunday (bowe/jones (02'), ambrose(01'), Radisich (00) Gardiner (00) etc etc) who has won the race Not the fastest. were the stone brothers the fastest in 98' no, were murphy/richards fastest all weekend in 99' were bargs and tander fastest all weekend in 00' no but they all won. just because a car is fast on saturday doesnt mean it is gonna be king on sunday.
remember only nine pole sitters have also won that years race (incl atcc, 2 lt & v8Sc). with only three winning from pole since 1993 (2 v8's, 1 2lt) and only four since 1979. (sorry about all the stats)
so Dont throw the towel in yet. i have had a feeling for some 6 months now that this year is gonna be something special a race with it all. and if you think about it with 5 fords and 5 holdens in the top ten Any brand could win.
more likely than not the winner will come from the middle of the pack. remember anything can happen and enjoy the race, if ford dont win there is always next year.
