According to Auto-Action mag Moffat & Bond are to re-stage the famous Ford 1-2 finish with a couple of parade laps in the 77 XC 2-doors!
This should look spectacular! Jusat what I wanted to see. Still think these were one of the BEST looking cars to race in Australia.
All you photographers should get onto Pitt Straight for this! You could sell these. I have been looking everywhere for a colour pic suitable for framing of that Bathurst finish, but have come to the conclusion no such print exists.
I have seen colour pics of 1-2s during the years ATCC and of the cars during the 1000 and Mono prints of the finish, but no colour pic of the finish. (Can anyone help?)
I wonder if the cars are the real 77 cars. I seem to remember the XC in the Bathurst Museum is a mock up, and I think Bonds #2 was last seen in South Aust.
Be interesting to see what "trim" the present in. They appeared on the Friday Scruitineers with a reverse "A9X" bonnet scoop, but were told to remove them, so raced without them. The scoops re-appeared at Lakeside (next race) and were on the cars for 78 (they races in the 77 colours till sandown 78 when they changed to a modified "Cobra" scheme).
Also Moffs car had clear headlight covers and 3 Aussie flags on boot (3 bathurst wins) Bond had dark covers and 1 flag.
OH and Hey Bondy! Now AINT the time to "right the wrong"! hehehehe
Hey Jemmex, I was there and don't need no picture to remember that fantastic feeling. But you are right, there are not too many photos around.
I have the original mirror that Ford bought out after the win with the two cars entering Murrays. Its been doctored with some off track Motorcraft advertising but looks a treat. As far as I'm concerned its priceless.
As to righting the wrong, there was no wrong mate, the boss called the shots simple as that.
The parade laps will be shown live on channel ten at around 8:45, about the same time as the unveiling of the BA V8 Supercar. There will be a heap of press photography of this event on the day so there will be some good quality images of this historic moment.
Do you guys know if there is any books that can be purchased reagrding the late 70's and early 80's regarding Ford Bathurst Vicotries. I have the DVD pack of Bathurst history. I would like to get hold of some reading material.
He's probably talking about 'the great race' video pack which is a must buy if you're a motorsport fan. I couldn't count how many times I've watched it. Its available at places like Target and K-mart and other major retailers. Only downside to the videos is they don't show the top ten shootouts.
