After kicking everyone's butt all week Dale Earnhardt Enterprises took Michael Waltrip to winners circle for the rain shortened Daytona 500 on 16-Feb-2003. The Ford Taurus of Kurt Busch came in second place which was a good showing given Ford Taurus teams complained about an inability to run out in front in the restictor plate super speedway race. Third was an unlucky Jimmie Johnson in another Chevy after playing a perfect pit stop strategy but falling victim to team tactics of DEI who used the lapped car of Dale Earnhardt Jr to pull Waltrip out in front at Johnson's expense.

This is fantastic racing - V8 Supercar need to do some catching up on the competitive issues in my opinion.

The Rockingham Subway 400 airs on Fox Sports this coming weekend 23/24 Feb 2003.
