I don't know if this has been discussed here before.

It was reported in the Courier Mail today that in F1 next year there will be a new rule introduced that a car must start the race on Sunday with whatever fuel was left after qualifying. The cars are impounded after qualifying.

I don't know what they are trying to achieve with this rule. What happens if you crash during qualifying?

Haven't heard that rule as yet but qualifying for F1 is now just like V8 supercars, just one hot lap after a warm up lap.

Not quite the same. F1 will have a full grid Shoot-out, which should make qualifying incredibly boring, But the races much more interesting...:)
