Quote from Motorsport News magazine
--------------------------------------------------
There will be no Prodrive owned V8supercar team next season but there could be a Prodrive Falcon.
Prodrive will not be fielding a team in the 2003 events because the deadline to start-up a team and engineer a car for the start of the season has passed.
But it appears that Prodrive has taken, or is about to take delivery of a Falcon BA bodyshell from which to build a race car at its Banbury, UK headquarters.
The engineering team for the project will be headed by Malcolm Oastler, the former BAR F1 and Reynard designer.
The budget for a full-house Prodrive team would have been enormous, with engineering facilities on both sides of the world, and it is believed that with no commercial sponsorship attached to such a deal, Ford Australia baulked at making such a large one-off commitment.
It appears that, with Prodrive's assistance, Ford will take a wider view with supplying engineering information to its teams and that there could yet be team fielded by the company - but not until 2004 at the earliest.
