Reports in todays Auto Action have holden struggling with the new engine placement. apparently they will only be taking 1 engine per car to Adelaide.

isnt the new engine just the same as before but without the siamesed ports on the heads(like ours???)?... that means the engine is exactly the same as before it just has different inlet/exhaust manifolds...

I would imagine that they would have to relocate the engine with the wishbone front suspension. They were running a wider track with the strut front.

Nope, they have a new block aswell.

The new 2003 spec VY block was originally designed for US TransAm racing in the 90's, and was chosen 'cause it has a similar deck height to the Ford unit.

block is actually out of a front wheel drive car and had to have new engine mounting points designed so it would fit

err, nope again

The mounting points had to be changed, you are correct there,

but the TransAm cars had 'plate mounted' blocks (like a big plate that spanned east-west across the engine bay) and had to be changed to the more conventional side mountings like we use.
