Good and bad for Jaguar

Mark Webber topped the timesheets for Jaguar Racing today as this week’s three-day test and development programme kicked off today in Barcelona. However, it was a mixed day for the Milton Keynes based outfit as while Webber set the pace with a 1:18.192s lap in the 2002 specification R3 chassis, Jaguar were left with a heavily damaged R3B driven by Antonio Pizzonia.

Not content with rolling his Jaguar S-Type road car last week whilst lapping the Spanish circuit with journalists aboard, Pizzonia was again in the wars today, crashing his Jaguar R3B head on into the barriers at turn two during the morning session. The former Williams test driver turned Jaguar race driver for 2003, was unhurt in the accident. “Antonio went off at turn two and hit the wall head on causing extensive damage to the car,” commented team spokesman Nav Sidhu. “Antonio is fine [and] the team is investing the cause of the accident.”
