Pre-qualifying scrapped for Darwin

On Sports Tonight last night they announced that there would be no pre-qualifying for the Darwin round of the V8's, instead there will be a 36 car grid. They said that the full story will be on RPM on Sunday. I was wondering how long pre-qualifying would last, too many good drivers and teams are missing out, they are going to have to come up with a better solution for dealing with too many cars. I reckon we will see some kind of 'Second' division for those who are off the pace, which will mean more excellent racing action for the fans and more exposure for the sponsers, a win win I reckon.

they used to have far bigger grids than they do now. and yes 'traffic' for faster cars was a big problem. if they are skilled enough and the traffic gives them passing space then there should be no problems in the field is 60 cars big.

The size of the field is limited, not because of the traffic problem... but because there is not enough room in the pit lane for all the teams....

Pre qualifying isn't a bad thing, if the top driver or team misses out, well obviously they weren't good enough on the day.

Though the suggestion of a second division is a good idea.
