Formula One team boss, David Richards is set to buy a Ford V8 team as the Blue Oval ups its bid to break Holden's V8 Supercar stranglehold. Richards, head of British American Racing F1 out-fit,said plans about the team would be released "in the next couple of weeks". Since switching its sponsorship millions from the Australian Open tennis championship to the Supercar series, Ford has had little "bang for your bucks". Holdens mark Skaife has won all but one of the V8 Rounds this year.
Richards told Australasian Motorsport News his Prodriv ecompany planned to enter the Championship by taking over an existing team and giving it full factory backing.

The general talk I read a wjila ago was that at the end of the year ProDrive would perfom a friendly takeover of Forbes race team 00 Motorsport. They will take two of his cars (the grid positions for them anyway) and Lowndes and Crompton but from what I remember the article I read said Forbes would go his own way with his one car operation.

And for christ sake call the Ford Racing Team and throw a bucketload of money at it.

And keep throwing money at it until we have a 2 make series again, instead of a 1 car series.

Although qualifying this weekend looks promising - but no chicken counting until tomorrow afternnon.

I hope David Richards does go ahead with the buy-out of a Ford team in the effort to make a strong fully backed effort to compete with the likes of HRT.
