There is an article in Tuesday nights edition of The Southside Chronicle with regard to a proposed purpose built motorsport park and motel/ club. The Tuggeranong Community Council is the driving force behind this and it
has been in the pipeline for a little while now. I'm not sure if you have the same article in your version of The Chronicle. The idea is to build a velodrome, a purpose built V8 Supercar/ driver training track, drag strip/ track and club/ motel facilities. The proposed site is on the Monaro Highway, between Isabella drive at the Rose Cottage and Mugga Lane. There is a public meeting to be held at the Vikings Town Centre Club (Tuggeranong) on 24 July at 7.30 pm. To register your attendance you need to call 6292 1843 or email tccorg@optusnet.com.au

Hate to say this but it will probably end up like the attempt in the late 70's early 80's, to have a circuit built in the same area.The do gooders had a big whinge and defeated it on grounds of noise pollution and danger to fauna.
Having said that check the history of this with The Canberra Times they gave it a lot of coverage. You just might get enough ammo to beat the do gooders this time round. Good Luck.

Yes mate. I registered my interest by email and have all intentions of being there on time:)

I'll be coming straight from a Hewlitt-Packard conference, after being at work all day, so I hope this is worthwhile. Then again, if there's any chance of giving it to a "Do Gooder", or politician, I'm there:)

Despite what has been said publicly the reason we lost the V8 Supercars was due to enough of the wowsers, and pushbike riders, having their say. The same goes for the drag strip. It's time we had our say, and stuck to it, or we only have ourselves to blame.

Not only will I be there as a motorsport enthusiast, but as someone who is sick and tired of the raw deal we keep getting. You'd be surprised who is turning up
