"Tests have revealed that 2001 World Rally Champion Richard Burns has an Astrocytoma and will not be able to contest the 2004 World Championship.
Burns will undergo a course of radiotherapy which doctors are confident will prove successful. He was forced to miss the Wales Rally GB earlier this month having blacked out while driving to Wales for the recce."
Apparently this condition can be fatal, although I have heard that Burns' case has been diagnosed reasonably early. It may explain his loss of form on teh previous few rallies. He's also very lucky that he had Markko Martin with him when he passed out on the motorway. Fortunately rally competitors are much friendlier that their roundy-roundy counterparts....
