I had been waiting for this to come up in other threads.

Why are SBR so far ahead of the Ford Pack in V8 Supercars?

We all see their results being far & away the most consistant of the Ford teams, as well as always at the top. Other Ford teams seem to come & go at particular circuits (which is probably undertsandable) in the minor placings.

With the 'control formula' such as it is today, I don't think you can put it down to engines, suspension, testing, aero, drivers etc; for as long as SBR have been at the top of the Ford tree.

There was a thread awhile ago that suggested that SBR were the only Ford team developing their own chasis from scratch, the others all were purchased from the one supplier. Is this true & if so, why hasn't anyone else woken up to this?

I don't know how much better they are compared to how unreliable the other teams have been this year.

I watched Lowndes at Winton following Ambrose around the track for a good 15 laps or so (after his loom was replaced) and he was matching his pace no problems at all. If they could give him a decent car for next year i'm sure we'll be seeing at least 2 fords in the top 5 on a regular basis.

I remember reading some where that after all the testing that ford did on the chasis that SBR took it away and did more tests in terms of rigidity and torsion etc and build a custom roll cage, also from what i know im pretty sure there arent that many contol componets on engines, look at orcon racing, there using SBR engines at the moment...

I read this aswell. I think it was in a interview with Campbell Little in a V8X issue last year. SBR are the only Ford team too redesign the chassis they are given.

It's not that different to DJR in 2000/2001. The only Ford team to be up the front on a regular basis.
