Funny thing about that was we were discussing which of the Ford drivers should get the job of accidently punting Skaife off each race - most said Seton, but I suggested Forbes and most people then changed their minds.

Five laps later, Forbes does what we all hoped for! Farkin funny!!

I was at barbagello and I must say (in no offence to Rodney) that I thought he was a waste of a BA, the whole race he just got in the way and was extremely slow. I had the thought that he should be in Konica and Ritter should have his seat.
Ohh well, you know what they say..."Shit Happens"

A shame to see the rest of the Fords so far back but I did notice The 2 DJR cars just outside thje top ten in race 3 which means I hope they are getting closer but its fantastic to see Marcos up there again I really hope he can keep it going so far thisa year he has been a class beyond anyone else out there

Thank goodness for Ambrose!! There are way to many Red circles in the top ten for my liking.
Can anyone explain to me why Lowndes copped a penalty for the incident in the 2nd race? This put him last at the start of the 3rd race? I know he took someone off the track (can't remember who) but it wasn't like he gained track position from it?? Shouldn't he have been at the front of the DNF's because he was knocked out last? Just didn't make sense to me, maybe I missed something?
It was great to see a Ford take out a holden instead of a fellow Ford, re. Forbes.

Brilliant race, Ambrose kept composure through out all 3 races and remained consistent. He is the next Dick Johnson IMO.

Pirtek and SBR are a true class team!

Let's do it again in Hidden Valley, and put another cherry on the pie! :hehe:

Once again a fantastic effort by Ambrose and all at SBR. Don't overlook the effort of the pit crew.

Slightly off-topic but i need to get something of my chest:

BTW did anyone take notice of Ambrose, when asked in a segment on what his career highlights have been so far, he stated:

1) Pole at Bathurst first time out IN AN AU

2) Dominating Sandown final round last year IN AN AU

Hmmm, perhaps the AU was such a dog (I'm being sarcastic) because only SBR could figure it out? Where would the second coming (aka the BA, again note the sarcasm) be without SBR?? A couple of lucky results by FPR (a team that is 5 days old), namely by Lowndes, and that's about it. The top ten at Barbagallo again confirms my suspicions that the BA and the Ford teams are NOT the force to be reckoned with as some would have you believe.
Take out SBR from Barbagallo and then name the next highest place BA??? The BA is only being lauded because of the fine
efforts of ONE team, as well as an uncharacteristic drop in form by HRT and its former?? stablemates. AU copped the brunt of TWR Australia at the height of its powers and came second (as against the collective TWR effort) but was highly competitive with non TWR VT/VX's.

Don't get me wrong, the BA road cars do rock, and there were some issues with AU road cars which contributed to the model's lack of sales success, but I do get frustrated when the media and individuals defame the AU racecars mercilessly when a closer reading of the facts demonstrates that all wasn't what it seemed.

Don't forget that Ford's current winning streak was technically commenced by a rampaging AU (surprise, surprise, SBR's AU) driven by (again surprise, surprise) Marcos Ambrose at Sandown last year. SBR are only picking up from where they left off.

SBR is making a winner out of BA, NOT the BA is making a winner out of SBR. That to me is the subtle but important difference.

I think from this we can agree that SBR really have their car sorted. Ingall's car is also a rocket, just look at the charges from the back of the pack that he has had this year, his qualifying skills still need work though.
On the other habd we have the rest of the Ford teams. These guys no doubt work as hard as they possibly can to get these machenes working on race day. But for some reason It's just not happening for them. Hell even the factory team isn't having much success (I put this down to it being about a week older than the season).
We must realise though that PB was not implemented so that Ford would wipe the floor with Holden, nor the opposite, it was created so the Ford and Holden would be on equal grounds. A certain pre PB car (VX) was comprehensively raping the other car in the competition (AU), and is still doing this to it successor. The VY isn't as strongly finnishing as the VX, rather in line with the BA performance.

I guess that we'll just have to wait for the non blueprint cars to filter out of the series, and then we'll see the real colours of the BA and VY. I hope. :)

Ford boy, I see what you're saying pertaining to Project Blueprint, and I do agree it's a factor and will become one more so in the future.

Before I continue, let me make it clear this is not a TWR/HRT bash session. On the contrary, you must have respect (even if begrudgingly) for a team that was able to move so far ahead of everyone else.

But from memory AU's were on par and more than competitive (results wise) with ALL the other non-TWR Australia VT/VX's, and arguably, SBR, a Ford team running an AU, was second to the former TWR conglomerate in success over this period, again AHEAD of all non TWR VX's.

Where did Ambrose finish in the driver's championship last year? AHEAD of all non TWR drivers. (3rd to be exact, behind Skaife and Murphy according to the V8 Supercar website). TWR comprehensively blew away all the other VT/VX runners also, and that's my point.

Interestingly, the VX's that currently race and have had success this year just happen to be the ex-TWR cars.......

It's not the VT and VX that arse-raped the AU, is was the TWR VT AND TWR VX race cars that arse raped the AU. And most importantly, they arse raped every other VT or VX that was ever raced by any other team also. A point often forgotten by everyone except Larry Perkins, Gary Rogers et al.

Just as SBR appeared to have a handle on the AU and now the BA ahead of all the other Ford teams, so did/does the former TWR Australia when it came/comes down to making a VT or VX haul arse. They left, and continue to leave, every other Holden team well and truly behind.

VY? Now that's a story yet to be told.............

So, trying not to sound too biased, It was actually the VT/X success of HRT (and "other" related teams) that lead to the downfall of the comparitivly smaller racing operations running VT/Xs; because they set such a benchmark that only they could better. This forced AVESCO/TEGA to make changes that would see the AU (an already evenly matched car) fair better, and thus the other V* teams would lose out.

Don't worry about me, I'm just thinking out loud. And yes, I do have respect for HRT. I don't know how in hell they did it, but they took a basically identical car and made it run 2 seconds faster than everyone else. I hate them, but I respect them.
