roll V8 Racing Impatience

Having just watched the Adelaide V8 races, I am stunned by the actions of some of the drivers.

Given the money and effort put in by these teams, why is it that drivers are regularly putting it all on the line in order to intimidate other drivers or try the impossible passing manouvre?

We saw it time and time again on the weekend. Nudges and impossible manouevres which end in disaster - usually for other innocent drivers.

It's so frustrating to be watching your favourite driver get taken out by a cowboy who can't just show a bit of patience to pull off the manouvre at the right place and the right time.

After all, Adelaide is a long race and patience will get you there. It is, in fact, possible to win even if you start last in that race but are able to show patience.

Re: V8 Racing Impatience

The first race was ok...a little bit rough, but It was fairly good from a spectator perspective.

The racing in the second race was pathetic..

I loved Ambroses form and can not congratulate him enough - not only did he stay out of trouble in both races and keep his car clean with no dirty driving but he managed to slaughter the competition as well.

But It just seemed that 70% of the drivers out there were pushing each other around and flying off the circuit.

How many people laughed when skaife (and someone else?) flew off the corner by driving straight instead of turning right?

What about the shell team with both drivers hitting the wall on the same corner?

C'mon guys! This isn't a destruction derby here!

I can remember so many cars spinning by hitting other cars (lets not forget the crash involving 4 fords near the end) and kept wondering if they substituted the drivers with celebrity drivers...

Re: V8 Racing Impatience

I was thinking the exact same thing on Sunday afternoon milchy, especially considering the way the point score works and the fact that many have new cars and the circuit has no run off, some minor offs result in major carnage.

Maybe team owners should deduct a percentage of damage repair from the drivers retainers, it might encourage more thought and less red mist.

Some of the driving was pretty bad. Paul dumbrell..what was he thinking?? Exactly like he did last years GP, running back onto the track after he went off and collected Paul Morris.

Re: V8 Racing Impatience

yeh I think the boys were getting a bit excited over in adelaide on the weekend, although it did provide pretty good entertainment (which is what they are supposed to do!).

that move dumbrell pulled was one of the craziest things ive seen, he really seems to do some stupid things ive noticed. Everyone had been stressing about that corner all weekend (and for past years) and he goes to pull a move through there! CRAZY!

Re: V8 Racing Impatience

i think murphy said it best, he said something like "we're top drivers in our field, we are here for entertainment, we cant expect to have every track laced with cotton wool incase we make a mistake"

that was in reply to rumours about changing that 260kmp bend at adelaide straight. I personally love it - and up untill that 1 big crash, the sunday morning practice session had more accidents!

Re: V8 Racing Impatience

How about Dumbrell's move taking out 3 innocent falcons and the guy he was overtaking, pathetic attempt... glad he was fined, I think he should miss out on a race or two...
