Quite simply the points system is such that there is very little seperation between placegetters in the number of points they get. So while Ambrose has won 4 rounds in a row, bright has been consistently in the top 10 at each round. In the rounds ambrose didn't win (Adelaide, Phillip Island) he finished poorly and dropped a bucketload of points (adelaide race 2 was the problem with the rear suspension where he got a DNF (i think) and in Phillip Island he finished well down the order after the tangle with bright, those 2 poor results are hurting his championship pointscore), but he is able to drop one of those bad rounds at the end of the year.
Yes the points sytem is a little screwed, hopefully they will change it for next season and come up with something somewhat better...
cum on ambrose in qld, round 7......i can see it now, 'ford domination for 6th win in a row'.
I see the Holden boys are pretty quiet lately, whats the matter?
Can the rules be over hauled ha;f way through the season?

Reason: Previous post was irrelevant
I dont beleive the point's system can be overhauled half way through the series, but come on guy's were not even half way through yet, what's not to say that Bright will have a couple of bad round's aswell maybe a DNF,and what will that do to Ambrose,it's to early to cry yet,the SBR team is at the moment playing the game as a very professional team, they have lifted the bar and have the allmighty HRT under pressure.this is going to be a very close and exicting year for the Championship.

There would have to be the worst points system ever. I still have dickheads saying "ohh look Holden are still leading the championship". I didn't think there was anything wrong with last years points system except for double points rounds. Maybe Bahturst should be the only one with double points rounds.

What I find amusing about the whole point thing is that the system was changed partly so the Fords could be in with more of a chance if they struggled again this year. So if they kept on coming in down the order the close points system would keep them in it. Consistency would be the key, putting less emphasis on winning. Now it is keeping the Fords out of the top spot. For some reason I find that kinda amusing
