V8 Supercars Stop/Go Should The Line Call Be By Computer ?
I like so many others couldn't beleive the bad call and bad form from CAMS to splap 00 Motorsport Craig Lowndes with that stop/go (we all saw what happened) when HRT (Mark Skaife) offended (re video evidence) and got nothing !
From what I saw, a race was won & lost on those bad calls!
One is inclined to see bias. What's behind it ?
Is it the dark spectre of Holden guys waving a wad of cash & other carrots making these guys sitting in the "im neutral seat" behave badly ?
Surely not !
If CAMS are truly unbiased why not make the yellow line laser trigggered like on world tennis ?
I admire Mark Skaife & his excellent driving & game plan & great team, but unfair advantages damage the sport ! Especialy when It appears HRT/TWR have soooo much more money to spend on R&D than the other teams.
In real terms those old fashioned push rod 2 valve per cyl engines are 20 years out of date, let alone non irs rear ends, why not use todays engines ?
Yet it's amazing what is done with them.
Why don't we as members petiton cams on behalf of the fans to change that stupid & unfair Human based line call ?
I didn't see the race on TV so I can't comment on what MS might or might not of done (sure your not getting him confused with Bright?). I think to have an electronic line like in the tennis would be highly impractical and cost prohibitive for a once a year street circuit such as Canberra though it could be something to look into for other permanent race circuits. You would probably also need the electronic lines for the 34 odd grid position lines to make sure none of the drivers jump the start as well.
I think the penalty is too harsh for the "crime", it really only a very minor infringement probably caused by a momentary lapse of concentration and it ended up costing Lowndes the race (probably). Something like a fine would be more appropriate I think.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.
They showed the footage of Skaife crossing the line, which he clearly did. I can't believe Colin Bond's excuse not to fine him, was that everybody else was doing it and the line was longer back then.
I liked Barry Sheens idea. Let the race run without stop/go's and sort it out after the race with time penalties.

I have been told that the replay they showed of skaife crossing the line was from LAST YEAR, and therefore had no relevance to this years race.
Please tell me if this wasn't the carse and I will retract the statement.
Do we really need to keep whinging, look at the teams, they have their heads down and are doing their best to catch up, they aren't complaining about results or about the officials for making a call on the rules which was the right call, even if the penalties were a little harsh. A lot of people here should take a leaf from the teams' books and get over it IMO.

Correct. Different years with different rules. You can't compare apples to oranges.
Re: V8 Supercars Stop/Go Should The Line Call Be By Computer ?
The question here wasnt whether or not Craig actually crossed the line (which he clearly did (by the same amount as Skaife last year even though the rules and line had changed this year))
The question should be the appropiate penality for the minor breach.
I totally agree with Barry Sheen in that the race should have been allowed to continue, providing a spectacular race, then after the race, appropiate penality imposed
And if the appropriate penalty is a step backwards by whatever time the drivethru takes ( not a stop/go) then everyone complains again.... Was it last year at adelaide when the rat looped skaifey around without being penalised????? was ther an outcry then from anyone here???

There wasn't an outcry here but there should have been a penalty for radisich for that incident that is for sure.
