Thumbs up Webber linked to Toyota

Mark Webber spoke with a Melbourne radio station today about the possibility of him joining the Toyota team next year.

The 25-year-old Australian, who finished fifth at his home event at Albert Park during the opening round of the season in March, told 3AW that “there was a chance” he could be at the Cologne team next year although he did not reveal in what capacity that would be.

Any move for the youngster would depend on the movements of Minardi. He has said he will stick with the team because it gave him his Formula One break, but there are fears for its future due to lack of funds.

Team Principal Paul Stoddart is meeting Team Bosses and F1 powerbrokers Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley today in London to discuss crucial commercial income that had become available following the bankruptcy of Prost Grand Prix and which he believes he is entitled to.

Stoddart has rubbished reports his team will be forced to close down in the next few races, but has said he “will not keep funding losses” from his own resources.

If Minardi fold surely Webber has done enough to deserve a drive with another team, Toyota is only going to get better.

They sure have.
The cars seems to be quite powerful so it will be interesting to see how they go on tracks like Hockenheim and Monza.

Excellent. It would be great to see Webber in a Toyota with Mika Salo.
