Webber sets silverstone lap record

from f1-live

Mark Webber surprised many people today by claiming the fastest time of the session, breaking the Silverstone lap record in the process.

The Jaguar driver completed more than 100 laps of the British circuit and finished in front of Jenson Button in second place and Rubens Barrichello in third position.

Eight teams and eleven drivers took part in this final testing day of the week at Silverstone.

Fair enough its only testing, but it shows things could be looking good for jar & webber for the remainder of the season

Re: Webber sets silverstone lap record

Nice to hear that the car actually completed 100 laps. That has to be a good sign surely.

Re: Webber sets silverstone lap record

There's nothing wrong with the design of this year's Jag that a little reliability wouldn't fix...

Alternatively, just ban the Ferrari's :s6:

Excellent news, even if his days with Jaguar are up it's earning alot of brownie points from other teams.

Does anyone know if there is any rule saying that the teams have to run with the minimum weight while testing? if not then they could get rid of all the ballest or what ever and get the drive to set a good lap to keep the sponsors happy. I'm not saying Jaguar did this with MW but its a interesting question i think

Re: Webber sets silverstone lap record

They aren't allowed to test cars they can't race anymore like they used to so it had to be minimum weight but I'm sure it would have only had a sniff of fuel in it & new tyres
