What happened to GTP - Ford Forums

was watching speed week last week and happened to watch the latest GTP round. I was really lookinf forward to watching it becuase i have not watched it for yonks, but i was disapointed

there were no XR8 or SS. no swifts and Protons or vectras, Bettles or any of the class D and E cars. what has happened to the category? Its just a bunch of WRX's and EV0's and GTS's.......

I think they split it up into GT Production, GT Performance and Nations cup, GT Production doesn't seem to get shown very frequently anymore though, not that it was Production anyway, the cars were parity adjusted

I used to love the GTP when it had the sti's GTS and mustang in that clas as well as the SS, Xr8 and the xr6 and magna VRX in the other class and the lowe class with beetles and the such.

Just like the old times, this series was like a retro version of the old times, only with new cars. Not that I was around in the old times, but it made for a very exciting series. Now since alot of the cars are parity adjusted, I feel it has diluted the series a little.

I agree. I used to enjoy it as much as the V8 Supercars but now there it no Ford vs Holden vs Toyota vs Mitsubishi like there used to be.
But, it was good to see Coon back in it today in his XR6 but how embarrising was it starting next the the Diahatsu Serion?

I can't seee why they don't do it like in the old days. Get stock cars, add rollcage, subtract stock tyres, add slicks, multiply fun.

That's good to see, back and in dominating form.
mind you he wouldn't be wanting to be too dominating, otherwise the big "parity" hammer will come down on him as happened last time.
