2004 Charting the Changes / Jaguar
Car & Driver
October 2003
Headlining at Jaguar are the all-new aluminum-bodied XJ8 and XJR sedans. Interior room, power, performance, and efficiency are all improved. Base and Vanden Plas XJ8s are powered by a 294-hp, 4.2-liter V-8, and the XJR’s supercharger bellows out 390 horsepower. All XJs share a common 119.4-inch wheelbase. X-types get a new front bumper, fog lamps, and decklid trim. Sport-package wheels are up-sized to 18 inches, and the sticker price of the 3.0-liter model drops by $2975, even though $2225 worth of standard equipment has been added. A new XKR convertible Portfolio edition will be offered with 20-inch wheels and special trim. The S-type sedan range loses its V-6 with five-speed-manual version.
Unchanged: XK8, XKR coupe.
